The Walther PPQ is an up and coming striker fired pistol. With all of the striker fired guns out there, this one seems to have one of the best triggers. This episode contains a review of the Walther PPQ and more discussion on triggers.

Subcompact guns are extremely popular for concealed carry. So this episode is about the advantages and disadvantages of small semi automatics, revolvers and other guns called subcompact guns. We analyzed Kahr PM9, Glock 26 and J frame revolvers and small .380 autos. Jon Payne also joins me for an interview about subcompact handguns. Thanks for downloading and listening. A recent shooting at a college in California has sparked more controversy about whether students at universities should be able to carry concealed handguns for self defense. I think they should be allowed to. So this episode is based on an excellent article in Guns and Ammo magazine about the subject of concealed carry on campus. I will of course provide a link to that article on the GRRN forum. The first half of this episode is about listener voice mails on open carry, Kahr pistols, IDPA and Ben Branam’s international incident that almost happened. I need to correct some statements I’ve made in previous podcasts about the Trayvon Martin case and selecting a handgun. Also, a couple of listeners called in some voice mails and I want to congratulate the first winner in my SCP contest. So this is a short episode, not really a full podcast episode, but nonetheless, some worthwhile content. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Sometimes I have a couple of pieces of gun related material that I can’t make a complete podcast episode out of, but I want to put it out there. This is one of those times. So this isn’t a real episode, but rather a bonus podcast. Don’t expect this every week though, OK? It starts with a lunchtime discusion with a couple shooting buddies, then turns into a response to a listener email and a book that was sent to me. Primarily, it’s about how gun owners tend to let emotions rule their decision making when buying or evaluating a gun. Warning! This is NOT politically correct. Too much discussion takes place about guns and shooting equipment that really doesn’t matter too much. What I mean by that is that it doesn’t help your ability to shoot and defend yourself too much. My guest, Jon Hodoway, on this show really makes this point quite nicely. He also recently won the Central Florida Tactical Conference shooting match. He’s also a firearms trainer for the Massad Ayoob Group. Among other topics such as Glocks that sometimes jam, range rental guns, how to test a gun, and the Ron Avery drill, we spend quite a bit of time talking about the less than important stuff that internet ninja’s and internet commandos spend a lot of time on. You may find yourself asking the question, what should I really do to improve my defensive shooting skills? I think you will find that answer in this podcast. – Bob Mayne, Handgun World Show

Jon Hodoway is my guest on this show. He agreed to be interviewed due to some challenges I had with some of his comments and quotes of me a few weeks ago. We had a very good civil discussion on concealed carry, caliber, choice of gun, training, stopping power and why he doesn’t like the .380acp! So download and listen as soon as you can. I found this to be very informative and while we don’t see eye to eye on everything, that’s a good thing. Jon does a good job of backing up his arguments and he makes some very convincing points. I like the fact that he used evidence that he’s found and not just pie in the sky theories. We also discussed some expensive 1911’s and a couple of revolvers.
Thanks for listening,
Bob Mayne
