Subcompact guns are extremely popular for concealed carry. So this episode is about the advantages and disadvantages of small semi automatics, revolvers and other guns called subcompact guns. We analyzed Kahr PM9, Glock 26 and J frame revolvers and small .380 autos. Jon Payne also joins me for an interview about subcompact handguns. Thanks for downloading and listening. A lot of people think they need to make serious modifications to their gun to be able to shoot it well. A couple weeks ago, a shooting buddy of mine decided to pour about $600 worth of upgrades into his new Glock 21SF, then did a range test to see if he could shoot it better. Listen to this episode to find out the results. Are modifications really worth it? Is there a point of diminishing returns? Would you be better off to spend that same money on ammo and training? Do you need a trigger job? What is the 1,000 round trigger job? These are questions I attempt to answer in my own way on this show. You’ll also hear a brief post match discussion between me and Steve and Rick from the Powerfactor Show. For those of you who have emailed me questions and comments, I’ve also handled some of the backlog of emails I’ve received. Thanks for sending them in. Recently I had the chance to receive some sample holsters from High Noon Holsters. They sent them to me for review. After nearly a month of using them, I have decided to share my thoughts. They are excellent holsters. If you’re looking for a good leather holster you really need to give High Noon Holsters strong consideration. I will discuss things like ruff side out, sight tracks, reverse J Clips, reinforced mouths and the excellent High Noon belt for concealed carry. Many thanks to Alex at High Noon Holsters for giving me this opportunity. A follow up YouTube video will be coming shortly so I can put into pictures what I say on this show. I carried my Glock 19 and my Kahr PM9 for nearly a month in these holsters. One was the Alter Ego and the other was the Hideaway. I carried them appendix carry and even shot IDPA with the Alter Ego carried behind the hip. Listen carefully and you will hear my thoughts. Next week, Gabe Suarez will be one of my guests. If you have questions you would like me to ask him, please email them to me by this Friday, 15th. I’m also making another special announcement on this show, so thanks for listening. Too much discussion takes place about guns and shooting equipment that really doesn’t matter too much. What I mean by that is that it doesn’t help your ability to shoot and defend yourself too much. My guest, Jon Hodoway, on this show really makes this point quite nicely. He also recently won the Central Florida Tactical Conference shooting match. He’s also a firearms trainer for the Massad Ayoob Group. Among other topics such as Glocks that sometimes jam, range rental guns, how to test a gun, and the Ron Avery drill, we spend quite a bit of time talking about the less than important stuff that internet ninja’s and internet commandos spend a lot of time on. You may find yourself asking the question, what should I really do to improve my defensive shooting skills? I think you will find that answer in this podcast. – Bob Mayne, Handgun World Show

A mixed bag of gun talk is all I could think of to title this podcast. While driving I share some thoughts I have about pistol caliber carbines, sights, belts, holsters, ammo, 20 gauge shotguns, survival guns and more. This is a relatively short show, I’ve been pretty busy this week. Don’t forget to listen to the pistol caliber carbine podcast I did on my survival show. That was in favor of pistol caliber carbines, this show is a reason not to own one. You decide. I do talk about the great many benefits of the Marlin 1894c .357 magnum, buffalo bore ammo, Marlin Camp carbines and more. Don’t forget it’s down to the wire for the Freedom Raffle. It’s too late for you to mail the money but you can still use a debit or credit card. Drawing is this Friday Sept. 17th. Shotguns are one of the most versatile weapons you can own. In my opinion, every family should have one. Even if you live in an area where handguns are not allowed, shotguns probably are. They are one of the most formidable man stoppers inside of 25 yards that are commonly available and affordable. In this episode I discuss the advantages and disadvantages of shotguns, their usefulness and what to watch out for when adding accessories, etc.

LET ME ADD: The very idea of being able to chamber a round and the “chunk chunk” sound of the pump shotgun being enough to make the bad guy pee his pants and run away…is preposterous! That’s a myth that simply isn’t true. If the bad guy is stung out on drugs, a noise certainly isn’t going to stop him. So consider that fact that you will likely have to shoot your shotgun, no matter what action type it is.

Short barrel or long barrel? It’s the questions a lot of people ask and wonder whether it affects accuracy. There are 2 sides to that argument and I will present both sides and give you some of my personal experience. I’ve actually found that I can control a short barrel handgun very well and it’s faster out of the holster, which is very important. By the way, I’ll post the pictures of my targets on Thursday. I’m having camera problems, I will fix them in a couple days, then post the target pictures I promise in this show.
