I just found your podcast; it’s great! Thanks. However, the links in iTunes do not work. There are only two episodes listed and neither is able to download.
Thanks.
Yeah, I’m working on that. Thanks for listening.
Hay Bob
Just thought I’d ask if you intend to continue with the handgun pod cast as well as the survival pod cast?? I’m enjoying both of them emensly and hav’nt seen a new post on the handgun site for a while.
Jim
Yes I will be continuing the handgunworld podcast. Sorry, but I had to take a break, should have a new episode done by the end of this week.
Thanks for listening!
Jody, just though I would let you know you might need to re-subscribe to the feed in iTunes. Search Handgun World Show, you should find it now.
As a newbe, I find your information very important. Thank you for taking the time to do the podcasts. You have me started on the right path.
Thank you and hope you keep listening!
I love your podcast.. When i got my permit I listened to every episode so as to better educate myself on how to carry legally, safely and responsibly..I feel your podcasts have made me a better firearm owner and I look forward to every episode… Maybe a show on how to convince gun haters that they are stupid
Thanks for the podcast packed with great information. It has helped me as a newbe learn about what handgun would fit my needs
Thanks for the compliment and for listening.
Thank for the compliment. Every time I get feedback like this it reaffirms why I do this show. I’ll take you up on your suggestion on the topic, but trying to figure out how to do it in a classy way. I’ll think about it and come up with something, stay tuned.
Great show sometimes I dont think I will be interested in the topic, but in the famous words of Ron White “I was wrong” thanks for the great show Bob
Thank you!
I also heard about your show via eric shelton, and i must say, BRAVO!
Bob,
Just wanted to drop a quick note and say keep up the good work. I enjoy all the podcasts. I subscribe using Itunes. I particularly liked the children and guns. I have a 1 yr old and am starting to think about the safety issue.

Thanks a lot Rick. If it weren’t for my parents teaching me about firearms when I was young, perhaps I wouldn’t even be doing this show. Take care and thanks for listening.
Bob,
Just started listening to podcasts about 6 months ago and came across yours only about 1 month ago.
I must say yours is in the top 3 of all that I’ve found (out of 20).
You’ve got a voice that is easy to listen to and doesn’t put you to sleep. You keep the useless banter to a minimum, and always have topics that are worth listening to.
Keep up the good work.

Well thank you Scott! That’s good feedback and I appreciate knowing what listeners like to hear. Also, if you use iTunes, please post a review of my show there too. Take care and safe shooting!
As a “newbie” I really want to thank you for your informative podcasts . You do a great job explaining all aspects of gun ownership . Thanks Bob , keep up the GREAT work .

Bob,
I enjoy your podcasts. I really liked the “Don’t talk to the cops” show.
The professor made a lot of sense. Even if you are perfectly innocent, you can trip over your tongue and get yourself in trouble.
As a police officer, I agree with the detective that most folks can’t shut up, so the professor’s position won’t damage my cases too much. You can’t imagine how eager folks are to tell their side of the story, even if means admitting guilt.
Keep both podcasts coming. They really help me to pass the time when I’m in the car.
david
Thanks David, I have another one coming soon, it’s an interview with a Deputy Sheriff about this subject. Stay tuned.
Bob, just another note to say thanks for doing the handgun world podcast. I just became interested in handguns, and I immediately began listening to several podcasts. Yours is definitely the best. You’ve got topics which interest me, and you produce such a content-rich show! I’m headed to iTunes to leave a review there! One thing I’m interested in (and you may have covered this already; there are many episodes I haven’t heard yet) is how to handle keeping a loaded handgun in the house with kids around. Mine are boys ages 7, 12 and 17. Thanks
Thanks David, I did do a show on Children and Guns and I have a 12 year old. Here’s the link to the show, http://www.handgunworld.com/?p=282
Thanks very much for listening
Bob,
Thanks for the excellent/informative/entertaining podcast! I started listening right after obtaining my CCW and it’s pretty much all I listen to these days (next is Today’s Survival Show). I’ve recommended the podcast to several friends.
I’m currently listening to episode 85–Carry That Big Gun–and think it’s the best yet.
For more in-depth questions/comments, what is the email address again?
Thanks again and keep up the great work.
Steve
Hello Bob, you have an awesome show. I `ve listened up to 3 in a row, can`t get enough.
Bob you mention different brands, models and cals in your shows but never or barely talk about the beretta 92, is it because it not a good piece? not accurate or reliable. I would really want to know your opinion of that gun since I am really close to getting one.
I just bought a stoeger cougar .40 and I like it, feels great. but would also like your opininon of this piece.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with your listeners.
Bob,
First and foremost I would like to say thank you for making podcast for those of us that like to listen to someone that is rational and you do a great job. My question is, are there any other places to get yur podcasts? I got a new phone and it is one of the new droid smartphones, I no longer have to use iTunes to get the podcasts but I was wondering if you have a downloadable link to the audio file without having to monkey around with iTunes. It would be a lot easier for some of us. Thank you so much for everything that you do for us, keep up the good work.
Adan,
Boise, Idaho
Yes Adan, you can download the podcast by simply right clicking the download link on the main page. Just go to http://www.handgunworld.com and right click it and select “save link as” or “save target as” and you can download it to your computer, .mp3 player device or whatever you use. Let me know if that doesn’t work, but it should.
Thanks Bob, it worked. Thanks again for putting out such a great podcast.
Adan,
Boise, Idaho
Bob,
Adan just reminded me that I also use a Droid phone. I have downloaded the free Stitcher app for my phone.
This allows podcast type shows to automatically stream to my phone without having to attach to a computer and I can listen to them there. Just something new you might consider for your Handgun World Show.
Bob: Thanks for doing Handgun World Show. I have now listened to every one of your shows using Itunes Podcast. I am new to this world. I was about to buy a .380 until I listened to your broadcast on the Florida school board shooting. The story about the Florida school board perpetrator taking three 40 cal center mass bullets and still getting off 11 rounds has given me something to worry about. I also appreciated the discussion on how stressed the security officer was after the shooting. At his age (I am close to this age), a heart rate of 180 is nearly fatal in itself. I know me and my job does not allow me to concealed carry (I work in a ‘safe gun free zone’). I will need deep cover, but why pull out a gun in self defense when the bad guy keeps shooting. I am now looking at the Kahr PM9 (9mm) since a .380 is not going to do anything but make me a primary target for a bad guy.
I also listened to your broadcast on the survival link about not talking to the cops. My wife and son will be getting CD versions of that.
Best wishes. Keep it coming.
Doug
Thanks Doug. I happen to think the Kahr PM9 is an excellent self defense weapon. 9mm is plenty if you do your part and the PM9 is very accurate, durable and reliable. I have to admit I carry my P380 but as a back up gun only. Never as primary.
I have listened to several of your podcasts. I enjoy them and informative. You did ask for comments. I think you should try to stay on topic. I know it is hard to talk about a topic for a long length of time but I would rather have a shorter show than have to listen for half if the show on something other than the topic. Keep up the good work I will still listen to both the gun and survival podcasts.
Hello Bob,
Thanks for the great podcast…!!! The information you provide has been very helpful in the process of purchasing my first handgun as well as obtaining the training I felt necessary to have in place prior to carrying on a daily basis. I recently completed a basic pistol course as well as a 2 day tactical handgun class and have recently shot both an IDPA match as well as a Steel Challenge competition.
Although I don’t believe that the government should mandate specific training for gun owners I do believe personally that some level of training is necessary to become proficient with the various types of guns and to learn safe gun handling skills. Thanks to your podcast I was able to determine what types of training I needed most and to get that training at a reasonable cost. I now feel totally comfortable carrying a loaded handgun pretty much wherever I go.
I am looking forward to your next Shooter’s Club podcast and am happy to support your efforts. Keep up the great work…!!!
hello, Bert from Victoria, Australia.
I just wanted to let you know about how I enjoyed the show and the discussion. I don’t actually own any handguns however I still enjoy this show and others on the GRRN. I do have a standard long arms licence, much more common in Australia since the buy-back in 1995.
I also wanted to mention that your show had exposed me to Warren Zevon and how much I enjoy the intro tracks “werewolves in london”, “roland the headless thompson gunner” and “lawyers, guns and money”.
keep up the good work Bob, I’ll get some monies to you when I can,
enjoy every sandwich,
Bert
Hi Bob,
I’m a new listener and can’t get enough of your podcast (I’ve been listening to several a day, just to catch up). Each episode is interesting, entertaining, and always packed with helpful information (I’m always pausing and rewinding the podcast to jot things down)!
Most importantly, so many “say” that they are open to criticism, but you truly take all comments as constructive. I appreciate your openness, your honesty, and your objectivity.
Many, many thanks and keep up the great work!
All the best,

Hi Bob,
I just wanted to say thanks for doing such a great show. I am new to handguns but quickly becoming an avid shooter. I stumbled upon your podcast after getting an iPhone from work in October. I never messed with podcasts before, but realized that iTunes makes it simple. Anyway, I was so impressed with whatever one I first found that I decided to start at the beginning of your shows, way back at #1. I’m currently on episode 46 so I still have a long way to go! Needless to say, I find each and every one invaluable to my firearms learning process and it is an great way to accelerate my learning. I recently took an advanced conceal carry class and told everyone in the class they should be listening to your show. I can truly say that thanks to you, I know much more about handguns, how to carry, and the right equipment than most around me. Thanks again and someday I’ll actually be at your current week!
Chris

Thanks Chris! I appreciate your feedback and for spreading the word. I’m always open to show suggestions too. Shoot straight and shoot safe. Bob Mayne
Bob,
I too have started at the beginning and am trying to listen to all your podcasts. I am presently up to episode 40 or so. I cannot however see the last few in iTunes. Are they still being posted there? Someone told me I need to listen to #159 because I am a Range Officer at the same range as Danny from Precision Targets. I went to iTunes and my options only went to 157. Thanks
Alan, I just checked iTunes from my iphone and all 160 are there, from my computer there are 159. All of my episodes should be posted on iTunes, check again and see what happens. Sorry about the trouble and thanks for listening. Danny is on episode 159.
Bob, love the podcast – I’m up to about episode 75. What is the surfer music you sometimes use?
It’s called “Our pistols are useless” by the Dead Ranch Hands.
Bob,
I figured out my problem . . . or at least I figured a solution to my problem. I unsubscribed and subscribed to your podcast on iTunes and the episodes that I could not see became available.
Bob,
I am fairly new to gun ownership and have found your podcast to be incredibly enjoyable and informative. I will preface this comment by saying that I have not listened to any of your more recent ‘gun control’ podcasts. I just listened to episode 20 though, and felt as though I must provide a third point of view. I feel as though the opinions of people passionate about gun control (on one side or the other) are so polarized that they are often arguing more with the rhetorical techniques of the other side than the actual issue itself. It is all to convenient for either side to say ‘gun control’ or ‘regulation’, leaving a lot of room for interpretation. While I fully support the 2nd Amendment, I would also not mind seeing more thorough background checks for firearms, more severe penalties for criminals carrying or using firearms illegally, and also more state-to-state cooperation (especially in concealed carry laws… I would prefer to not have to obtain 3 CCW’s as you did). I also understand that regulation has the possibility of becoming a very slippery slope. Guns and gun ownership are so greatly ingrained in American culture, though, that I have a hard time believing that any sane politician would think that trying to take loaded AR15s from a country of ‘crazy gun-toting yahoos’ is a good idea. I appreciate both sides of the argument, but just feel that the name-calling and rhetoric often gets in the way of any productive debate.
Good shooting,
Tyler
PS. I’m going to a gun show this weekend and will be shopping for my first CCW handgun. Your advice on handgun selection has been very helpful in narrowing down my search!
Good points Tyler. We do get too emotional sometimes and perhaps some of that came out in Episode 20. I wouldn’t put it past some of the people in the current Presidential administration including the President himself, to pass a “turn them all in” law if they could. Remember, there is a lot of executive orders he can issue that can create unreasonable gun control. Probably the only reason he hasn’t yet done that is because it’s an election year. But your points are very good and thanks for posting them. If you wish to leave some audio feedback, you can leave a voice mail at 210-646-1727. I will put them on the podcast and respond to them too. Thanks!
Just found your podcast a couple weeks ago, up to show number 43 so far. Enjoying it very much and looking forward to listening through on my commutes until all caught up! Also enjoying our recently affirmed rights in Wisconsin–had to grin hearing you talk about Illinois and Wisconsin in these older episodes. 49 down, 1 to go…
Good Morning Bob,
I am Brad for the great gun friendly state of Wisconsin. Beloit wisconsin to be exact.i have a couple of questions for you and also some comments.I have to tell you that i am in kind of a depression right now. i found your show by accident looking for reloading information. I listen to the episode beating the reaper. I was hooked i downloaded 1 through 178 and have listened faithfuly ever since. i have just ran out of shows and have to wait like everyone else.
i carry a XDM 9 mm with the 19 round mag. I love it i am a reloader i have putt about 3000 rounds through it i have had 3 malfunctions all due to my ammo. i love this gun the one thing that i have had troubles with is the mag. release. It seems when the gun gets hot the mag release gets sticky. i clean this area very well and still have issues.I have tryed several kinds of ammo same issue.
My Question is if i draw my gun in a situation once i clear leather and i have a sight picture is my finger on the trigger, or is my finger on the slide at this point.
sorry i guess i only have one question.
thanks brad
Hi Brad, thanks for listening, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Unless you’ve identified your target and you are completely sure there is imminent danger to you and/or a family member, keep your finger on the slide. The XDM9 is an excellent gun. Shoot straight and shoot safe.
Great podcast! Catching up on itunes, into the 130’s episodes. Keep up the great work. I just bought my first handgun recently and your info has been invaluable. It definitely helps the learning curve. I have heard on some of your podcasts you wonder if you should continue. I hope you do. Once I catch up I will check out your survival podcast but for now I am quite content with this one.
Bob,
I am looking forward to the class on Sat. Please recommend any places to stay close by? Haven’t decided whether to come over Friday or Sat. morning. Is anyone getting together for dinner Friday?
I just found your podcast; it’s great! Thanks. However, the links in iTunes do not work. There are only two episodes listed and neither is able to download.
