This episode, Ben and Bob discuss their experience at an IDPA classifier and further discuss the subject of vehicle carry. Also, some listeners called in some voice mails regarding appendix carry, Kahr’s recommendation of using the slide release to chamber a new round and concealed carry on campus. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, Ben Branam, HandgunWorld Podcast.
Hey Ben and Bob,
Just listened to Ep. 173. Enjoyed it tremendously especially the comments about the “bad day at the classifier.” Happens to us all. Except when you reach Master in a particular division. Then you are exempt from classifiers in that division. However, as I tell other IDPA shooters, you then have the opportunity to be beaten at a match by a better class of shooters.
And as one of you pointed out, the classifier is really an accuracy match. It really doesn’t test your abilities at the nuances of shooting a match. That comes with experience and learning from experienced shooters. But the classifier does accomplish that IDPA goal of keeping shooters with similar abilities shooting against each other so that they all have a chance at the top lines in their classification.
And it is FUN!
Take care and I am looking forward to hearing more of your podcasts.

My intention is to practice the classifier more and make SSP Expert next time!
