Alan Houck, assistant manager and instructor at A Place To Shoot range is my guest on this episode. He’s also a Texas CHL instructor. I asked him to discuss the issues of printing, brandishing and properly concealing a handgun. We also discussed the issue of campus carry some more. He’s also a college student with a good perspective on that issue. The episode starts with some listener voice mails on subjects such as training, the Taurus TCP .380 pistol and even legalizing pot! Thanks for downloading and listening.

Bob,
Great show. I have been listening to you for a few day. You do a great job.
I have an observation to make regarding the NRA’s suggestion to place armed guards at schools. I think the NRA made that observation more to show the irony (hypocrisy) of banks, airports, warehouses, courts, etc having armed guards yet schools being vulnerable.
However, I do not think it’s the best solution. The last thing I want at my kids’ school are armed guards the likes of the TSA gropers. I would much rather leave this up to the states to decide following the 10th amendment spirit. Already in Harold ISD in North Texas faculty have been armed since ’08. I’m sure in every school there are caring, qualified teachers willing to arm themselves to protect the kids. If school teacher in Sandy Hook launched themselves at the shooter with nothing but their body to stop the bullets, imagine what trained, armed teachers would do to alter the outcome.

I tend to agree with you. I think the best solution is to allow the teachers who want to carry a gun, do so. And train them to be proficient and safe with it.
