On December 14, 2010 a tragic shooting took place during a Florida School Board meeting. Jon Hodoway and I discuss the events that took place and what it means to all of us who conceal or open carry on a daily basis. Jon did his homework on this event, reading transcripts and analyzing videos. I think you’ll find his conclusions and opinions quite compelling. Here are a few questions I would like to pose to you as you listen to this. First, this happened in a gun free zone, so have you ever wondered how dangerous gun free zones really are? Secondly, why do people not believe that something like this can never happen to them? Third, are you prepared? Please take this information to heart and really think about what’ being said in this show and thanks for downloading and enjoy the interview. By the way, if you want to support my show consider investing in the digital download or CD I’ve just released. It’s packed with good shooting skills information, interviews and audio clips, exclusive only to those who help support my show.

Hi Bob,
I have not listen to this podcast yet because I was so excited to find this podcast in my ZUNE marketplace earlier this month, I have been listening to them from the begining, two or three a day until I can be caught up.
You have given me several things to think about on handgun (& long gun) ownership.
I live in Northern California. Do I need to say more? In Feb I am going to have to provide a finger print in order to purchase my handgun ammo, which will also include .22 ammo cause it fits in handguns.
CCW licenses are issued on a May Issue.
We also have a limit on ammo clips of not more then 10 rounds.
I am listening to your earlier episodes and know that you like to carry the Glock because of the high capacity clips.
Here is my question, and I would like your opinion.
If you were limited to the amount ammo in a clip, would you then choose stopping power of a .45 ACP in a single stack clip which is narrower for covert carry or stick with the Glock with 9mm that you currently belt carry that has modified clip but is still a wide body.
The word among my friends is that the military thought it was a better switch to the .45 cal from the .38 revolver because they were coming up against Japanese soldiers that were medicated so they were not easily stopped by the .38 cal round.
Wouldn’t this be similar to someone that we might encounter on meth or crack and the 9mm in a small capacity clip may not be able to stop.
If possible, could you also give us a review of the Ruger P345 .45ACP. This is also a has a composite plastic body and a metal slide.
Keep up the great job. Looking forward to getting caught up!!!
Grant, thanks for the compliments. If I could not carry high cap magazines, I probably would switch to .45acp because even though caliber really doesn’t matter too much (lots of studies have shown that) the reason I would carry a .45acp if I was limited to less than 10 rounds, is to get the thinner gun, slightly easier to conceal. I will probably go rent a Ruger P345 within the next couple weeks and review it for everyone. I’m not sure why the military switched to .45acp, but your theory makes sense. Stay tuned and thanks again.
Excellent!!!!
Bob like your show i agree that caliber does not mean magical bullet. I have a ccw and went to get extra training a class that was started from street stat,s. The entire class was from 0-21 feet up close and personal i feel 100% comfortable with a 9mm or a 38 special and plan on going back to get more training soon.
I think I am going to take a class like that soon.
